On a door built around 2003, the steel rollers that came with it are now pushing two decades of use. The failure pattern is predictable: the roller stem wears oval instead of round, the roller starts chattering in the track, and eventually a roller cracks or seizes and the door binds hard on one side. Because this area sits in a cold moderate climate band, that wear shows up worse in winter. Unlubricated steel rollers contract in the cold and bind against the track lip, which is why a lot of these calls come in on the first hard freeze of the season rather than in July.
The other common issue on 2003-era doors is track misalignment from the original install settling over twenty years. A worn roller rattling in a track that's already a quarter-inch off plumb accelerates the wear on the new roller too. We check the track square before we install anything, because swapping rollers into a bent track just buys you another service call in a year.
